Apart from the differences in size, one of the ways Apple has set the iPhone 12 models apart from one another is through its cameras. Each iPhone 12 model has a slightly different camera setup from the other, with the largest and most expensive iPhone 12 Pro Max having the “best” camera tech out of the lot.
However, the good news is that if you didn’t want to spend so much money on the iPhone 13 Pro Max, or whatever it will be called, you might be pleased to learn that Apple could bring the camera tech from the iPhone 12 Pro Max and apply it across the iPhone 13 lineup, at least according to a report from DigiTimes.
The camera tech in question is said to be the sensor-shift optical image stabilization, which at the moment is only available on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. However, if the report from DigiTimes is true, then it could be applied to the entire iPhone 13 lineup, which is good news since we imagine that some potential customers might choose the base iPhone 13 model instead of paying for the more expensive variants.
For those unfamiliar, sensor-shift stabilization is where the stabilization is done on the camera’s sensor itself instead of the lens. This is usually thought of to be a “better” form of stabilization and is primarily used in DSLRs.
