Apple Could Drop Support For iPhone 6s, iPhone SE (2016) With iOS 15

Apple is expected to introduce iOS 15 later this year, most likely during the company’s WWDC event which should be held mid-year. While newer iPhone users can look forward to learning more about the update’s new features, changes, and improvements, there might be some iPhone users that will be left out.

According to French publication iPhoneSoft, they have learnt that there will be at least two iPhones that will no longer be supported once iOS 15 is rolled out. This includes the iPhone 6s series and the 2016 iPhone SE. Both of these handsets are powered by the A9 chipset, which so it is possible that devices running on the A9 or variants of the A9 will not be supported by iOS 15.

Given that the iPhone 6s was released in 2015, we can’t say that we’re surprised. Apple typically supports its products for around that length of time, so for a phone to be updated over the course of 6 years or so is actually rather impressive, especially when you consider the fact that Android devices usually get 2-3 years at most.

For those who are still holding onto those devices, we guess it’s about time that you consider making an upgrade or potentially risk no longer receiving updates once iOS 15 is out.
