However, now a new report from Reuters is hinting that the deal may not go through. Apparently Hyundai executives are divided over the idea of working with Apple. This division in opinion means that there is a chance that the company might not go through with it, which means that Apple would need to find someone else.
According to a Hyundai executive, it seems that there is concern that despite working with such a massive company like Apple, it might not necessarily be beneficial to Hyundai. “We are agonizing over how to do it, whether it is good to do it or not. We are not a company which manufactures cars for others. It is not like working with Apple would always produce great results.”
We can see their point. After all, making cars for Apple would essentially be making a product that competes with themselves. It would be akin to a company like Dell asking Apple to manufacture computers for them. However, this isn’t always the case. For example, Samsung and LG, both of whom are competitors to Apple, do work with the company on producing components for similar products, so it’s not entirely unheard of.
Either way, if this deal does fall through, it will be interesting to see who might be keen on picking it up.
