It seems that many companies are starting to catch on that gamers who like to game on laptops don’t necessarily want their laptops to be big and bulky and garish with RGB lights blinking and pulsating all over. So much so that ASUS has since unveiled what could possibly be the company’s lightest gaming laptop to date.
This comes in the form of the ASUS ROG Flow X13 which is actually rather interesting because this adopts the hybrid design, which means that users can quickly transform the laptop into a tablet-like device, thanks to its 360-degree hinge and built-in 13-inch 1920×1200 touchscreen display.
This allows the laptop to fulfill all kinds of roles, whether you want to use it as a tablet to draw or take notes, or use it as a laptop for work or school, or even to game. The laptop packs some pretty decent specs with AMD’s Ryzen 9 5980HS processor powering the device, and also NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1650 GPU, which isn’t the most powerful GPU, but here’s where it gets interesting.
ASUS will also be offering its own eGPU solution called the XG Mobile that will support GPUs like the NVIDIA RTX 3080, which means that if you’re at home and need that extra boost in power, you’ll have that option. It will connect to the laptop via a custom PCIe 3 connector that can deliver 63Gbps of bandwidth, more than Thunderbolt 4’s 40Gbps.
The only problem is that due to the custom connector, you’ll have to go to ASUS if you need a replacement. The ASUS ROG Flow X13 will not come cheap though, and the bundle that includes the XG Mobile will be priced at $3,000 and is available for pre-order via the company’s website.
