In fact, over in Singapore, the country has become the world’s first in approving the sale of lab grown meat.
This meat is made by a US startup called Eat Just, where its lab-grown chickens can now be sold and used as an ingredient in food items like chicken nuggets. Unlike plant-based meat substitutes, lab-grown meat is created by taking stem cells from an animal and putting it into a medium that will help it “grow” into the real thing.
The upside is that it is slightly more ethical and it also deals with the issue of antibiotics, which is a growing problem in industrial farming where animals are given doses of antibiotics. Whether or not Singapore’s decision will prompt other countries to follow suit remains to be seen, but it looks like a good alternative.
