The good news is that according to an APK teardown by the folks at 9to5Google, they have discovered what appears to be some changes to DJI’s drone insurance, also known as DJI Care. According to the teardown, it seems that DJI could be offering what they’re calling “Flyaway Coverage”.
This suggests that if in the event you do lose a drone due to a flyaway incident, all you need to do is submit a claim to DJI, pay a service fee, and you can get a replacement drone. It sounds like a pretty good idea, but exactly how much this additional coverage will cost remains to be seen, but it might be a good idea for that extra peace of mind, especially if you do use your drone quite a bit.
There is also no word on when DJI plans on launching this new Flyaway Coverage plan, but the APK teardown does at the very least confirm that it does exist in some form, so we’ll just have to wait for DJI to make an announcement.
