That being said, it seems that maybe in the future, the Apple Watch could also gain support for Touch ID. This is according to a patent discovered by Patently Apple in which Apple has filed for a patent that suggests that they are exploring putting Touch ID into the side button on the Apple Watch.
While we’ve seen some somewhat outlandish patents from Apple, this one actually seems rather feasible. This is because with the fourth generation iPad Air, Apple actually managed to put Touch ID into the power button of the tablet. This means that it is possible for Touch ID to be fit into a smaller space, so why not the Apple Watch’s side button, right?
That being said, this is just a patent so it’s hard to say if Apple will make it a reality, but like we said, this is one of the more feasible patents we’ve seen, plus it already sort of exists, but whether or not Apple will incorporate it remains to be seen.
