According to a recently-granted patent-filing by Patently Apple, it seems that Apple is exploring the idea of a keyboard which could feature adaptive displays on each key. This means that every key would have its own display of sorts that could change and adapt according to the situation at hand.
For example, let’s say you’re watching a movie. The keyboard could then change to display keys that allow you to control playback and volume. It can also be useful if you use editing apps like Photoshop, Premiere, and so on, where the keys could be adapted to be used as shortcuts for certain functions.
That being said, this seems like a rather ambitious idea and would take a lot to try and convince people to switch to using something completely out of the norm. We have no idea if Apple plans on making this a reality, so maybe don’t get your hopes up just yet.
