Now according to a report from DigiTimes, it seems that Apple’s entry into the car business could begin as early as 2024 where the company is expected to officially unveil its electric car. The report claims that Apple is now checking on the cost of parts it would need for its own car, where TSMC is also expected to supply Apple with the necessary chipsets.
Apple is also said to have a preliminary design in mind and is eyeing a factory in the US for its production. While DigiTimes might not necessarily have the best track record for Apple rumors, it should be noted that analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is very accurate, had previously stated that Apple could launch such a vehicle in 2023-2025.
That being said, we remain skeptical. Even if you’re not familiar with the manufacturing process, it is obvious that making phones and making cars are two very different industries. Apple has absolutely no record when it comes to making anything that moves, so it would require tremendous faith on their customers’ end to buy such a vehicle. Take this report with a grain of salt for now, but we still have quite a few years ahead of us so we’ll just have to wait and see.
