Apple Could Be Working On A 32-Core M-Series Chipset

With the Apple M1 chipsets, Apple has proven that they are able to compete with Intel on computers, and in some of the benchmarks we’ve seen, even outperform Intel. However, to be fair, computers like the Mac mini and MacBook Air weren’t exactly designed for high-performance usage, which begs the question of how Apple will handle its higher-end computers like the 16-inch MacBook Pro, iMac Pro, and Mac Pro.

It turns out that Apple has rather ambitious plans for that. According to a report from Bloomberg, it seems that Apple is apparently working on a 32-core M-series chipset that could debut in 2022. This is a massive jump ahead of the current M1, which sports 8-cores, so clearly this 32-core chipset is being aimed at more professional and demanding users who might currently be using computers like the iMac Pro or Mac Pro.

Apple is also said to be developing a 16-core M-series chipset that could launch in 2021 and find its way to computers like the 16-inch Macbook Pro and iMac. We have been hearing rumors that Apple could launch redesigned versions of the MacBook Pro and iMac, so it is possible that this rumored 16-core M-series chipset could also be part of it, but until we can get some kind of official confirmation, take this report with a grain of salt for now.
