Earlier this year, we heard the rumors that Apple could be working on a new set of AirPods that could be in the middle of the AirPods and the AirPods Pro known as the AirPods Pro Lite. It was initially rumored that it could be launching in the summer of 2020, but that obviously did not happen.
Now according to a report from The Elec, it seems that the AirPods Pro Lite is expected to come in the first half of 2021 and will be priced at $200. The report also shared some interesting information about the earphones, where Apple had apparently planned to launch the AirPods Pro Lite after the launch of the AirPods Pro.
However, they later changed it and chose to delay the launch of the AirPods Pro Lite as the Pro version was selling a lot better than expected. If that is true, it would make sense that Apple wouldn’t want to “disturb” the sales of the Pro model with the launch of a cheaper model that could eat into the sales.
That being said, if the $200 price tag is true, it means that it would cost $50 less than the AirPods Pro. What kind of features we can look forward to remains to be seen, but until we hear otherwise, take it with a grain of salt for now.
