Now there are several caveats to this tweet. For starters, it is unclear where Jioriku got their information from and if their tweets hold any credit. Secondly, it is possible that because this is the first prototype, Apple might be more interested in testing out other hardware or design changes before moving onto other features like Touch ID.
This means that despite the tweet, there is still a chance that the final version could come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Jon Prosser, who has been very accurate with his leaks, had corroborated a claim that an in-display Touch ID could be coming to a future iPhone, but it is unclear if this is about the iPhone’s future in general, or specifically the next-generation model that will arrive in 2021.

The concept of in-display sensors aren’t new and we’ve already seen them used by Android handset makers, so we know that it is possible. However, it is also possible that Apple is more interested in coming up with their own solution rather than rely on existing ones, so take this information with a grain of salt for now.
