iPhone 13 Could Be Even Better At Taking Photos At Night

Right now, the iPhone 12, like most smartphones these days, comes with a Night mode in the camera. This basically relies on software and algorithms to help users take better photos in low-light situations, such as when it’s night. However, the iPhone 13 could come with an upgrade to help with that even further.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he believes that with the iPhone 13, Apple could introduce an even faster lens on its cameras. One of the cameras, particularly the Ultra Wide module, could come with an aperture of f/1.8. Right now, the iPhone 12’s Ultra Wide camera comes with an aperture of f/2.4.

For those unfamiliar with aperture, this is basically how much light is let into your camera’s sensor. A lower aperture usually means more light because it’s more open, so an f/1.8 lens would let in more light than a lens with an aperture of f/2.4. It also helps take photos faster because more light is let in, which in turn can help reduce things like camera shake since photos are taken at a faster speed.

Typically, lower apertures also help with the bokeh effect, but we’re not sure how this will play out in the iPhone 13. Kuo also goes on to claim that in terms of design, the iPhone 13 will remain the same as the iPhone 12, so don’t expect any drastic design changes just yet.
