Turns out the rumors were right because thanks to a teardown posted on Weibo, it has been confirmed that this year’s iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with a smaller 3,687mAh battery. We really have to question Apple’s decision at this point, because the iPhone 12 Pro Max not only comes with a larger display, but there are other hardware features that could drain the battery further, like its larger camera sensors, the LiDAR scanner, and also the inclusion of 5G.
So far initial battery tests have been less than favorable, so like we said, we have to wonder what made Apple go with a smaller battery. It could possibly be due to the fact that the iPhone 12 Pro Max is actually slimmer than its predecessor, and the thinner build could have been the reason Apple was forced to go with a smaller battery.
Either way, it is a bit disappointing especially on the back of last year’s iPhone 11 Pro Max, but if the other features and brand new design is what’s drawing you to the phone, we suppose you’ll just have to deal with the shorter battery life.
