One of the chief criticisms that we saw when Apple launched the M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro is that while the innards have changed, externally, they’re still the same. It’s not necessarily a bad thing that Apple has kept the design since it works rather well, but at the same time, many expected Apple to come up with something new for its new chipsets.
The good news is that if you were hoping for something like that, you might want to hold off on your purchase until 2021. This is because according to notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he claims that Apple is expected to refresh the design of its MacBooks in the second half of 2021, but those design changes will also be applied to the Apple Watch.
The last time Apple refreshed the Apple Watch’s design was with the Series 4 where they made the display slightly larger. We’re not sure if the company plans to keep with current design and make minor changes, or if we could be looking at something entirely brand new. 2021 is also the year Apple has been rumored to introduce a new iMac design with the M1 chipset, but we’re not sure if the MacBook redesign will see Apple launch the M2.
Either way, take it with a grain of salt for now, but given that 2020 has yet to come to a close, we still have quite a bit of waiting to do.
