Apple Looking To Make Its AR Glasses More Durable

If you’re someone who wears prescription glasses, you know how easy they are to get dirty and damaged. This is going to pose a problem for companies like Apple who are rumored to be making their own augmented reality smart glasses, which we imagine will run into similar issues as prescription glasses.

This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that according to Apple World Today, they discovered a patent filed by Apple in which the company is looking into ways to help make the Apple Glasses more water and dust resistant, making it more durable and ideal for all day usage.

The patent mentions how these internal components need to be sealed in such a way to protect it from both dust and water ingress. It also notes that because during usage, there might be a need to adjust the position of the display panel or components to adjust for focus and correct distortion, these need to be taken into consideration so that they don’t get damaged over time.

This actually raises an interesting point about smart glasses, especially if Apple plans to make one that supports prescription lenses that might need to be worn all day. That being said, whether or not Apple goes through and makes such a device remains to be seen, although last we heard, some believe that such a device could be released in either 2021 or 2022.
