Zeiss’ ZX1 Full-Frame Compact Camera Is Finally Available For Pre-Order

Zeiss is a company that some of you might be familiar with when it comes to camera lenses, especially those found in Sony’s cameras. However, back in 2018, the company announced its first full-frame compact camera, the ZX1. Now after about two years since its announcement, the camera is finally available for pre-order.

We have no idea why Zeiss took this long to bring the camera to the market, and more importantly, if it still has a place in the market today that seems to be flooded with full-frame cameras from the likes of Nikon and Canon. However, if you are interested, it is available for pre-order at B&H Photo where it will cost a whopping $6,000.

For those who might have forgotten or who are hearing about this camera for the first time, the ZX1 will feature a new full-frame sensor designed by the company themselves. It is a fixed lens camera with a 35mm Zeiss Distagon f/2 lens. It features a 255 area autofocus system, a 4.3-inch display on the back, and one of its unique features is that it actually runs a full version of Adobe Lightroom CC on the camera itself.

Zeiss did say back in 2018 that customers who purchase the camera won’t need to subscribe to Adobe’s CC subscription program if they want to use the program, but if they want to share the edited images from the camera to their desktop, they will need a subscription. There is no mention of when the camera will be shipping out, but if you’re keen to check it out, you can pre-order a unit today.
