Under-Display Touch ID Will Eventually Come To The iPhone

While Apple’s Face ID pretty much works as advertised, there are times when using one’s fingerprint is much more efficient. This has led to some wondering if Apple could potentially implement both solutions in future iPhones. While Touch ID did not return in the iPhone 12, it has been rumored that this is a feature Apple is still looking to bring back.

This is according to a tweet by leakster @L0vetodream who claims that an under-display Touch ID for the iPhone is still a possibility. Given that we know next to nothing about the iPhone 13 at the moment, we suppose it is safe to speculate that perhaps the feature could eventually find its way to 2021’s iPhone.

An in-display fingerprint sensor isn’t new and we’ve seen various Android handset makers utilize it in their devices. However, we know that Apple isn’t really one to hop on a bandwagon for the sake of it, so perhaps Apple is coming up with their own solution that could be better or offer a unique take on the feature.

This is also not the first time we’re hearing about an under-display Touch ID for the iPhone. Previously, there was a report from Bloomberg that claimed that such a feature could debut as early as 2021’s iPhone. Take it with a grain of salt, but since Apple rarely confirms or speaks on rumors, we’ll just have to wait and see.
