According to Panasonic, the Lumix BGH1 is a mirrorless four thirds camera that has apparently been designed for video in mind. The company envisions the camera being used together with other devices like drones, or being used in multi-camera setups, or even live streaming. So much so that Panasonic has actually included Power over Ethernet+, meaning that it can be powered by the same cable that it would use to connect to a network.
This means that instead of having to run around trying to find multiple outlets, you could just connect multiple cameras using Ethernet cables and you’re set. The camera itself will come with a 10.2MP sensor, which isn’t particularly high as far as cameras are concerned, but like we said, it is clearly aimed at people who want to shoot video.
There is also support for 4:2:0 10-bit C4K/4K 60p recording, or 4:2:2 10-bit All-I C4K/4K 30p recording. The camera also supports dual UHS-II SD card slots, USB-C, HDMI output, 3G-SDI, and a 3.5mm in/out jack. The Panasonic Lumix BGH1 is priced at $1,999.99 and will be released this coming December.
