Running the Geekbench 5 benchmarks, it seems that Apple’s scores managed to beat out some of the more popular Android smartphones in the market today. The scores revealed that the iPhone 12 managed to get 1,593 in terms of single-core performance, and 3,859 in multi-core performance.
This is versus handsets like the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra which scored 985 and 3,294 respectively, and was the top-performer amongst Tom’s Guide’s tests. The publication also ran tests for video encoding and found that the iPhone 12 managed to encode videos in little to no time, with the iPhone 12 completing an encode with Adobe Premiere Rush in 26 seconds, versus the Note 20 Ultra which took nearly three times as long at 1 minute 16 seconds.
That being said, we want to point out that benchmarks only tell one part of the story. There are plenty of good reasons to purchase the Note 20 Ultra or the Pixel 5 or the OnePlus 8T over the iPhone 12, but as far as technology advancements are concerned, Apple’s A14 Bionic chipset is proving itself to be more than capable.
