iMac With Apple Silicon Expected In First Half Of 2021

Given that Apple has officially announced that they will begin to transition from Intel processors to their own chipsets, it’s really only a matter of time before the company’s entire lineup of Mac computers shifts to the company’s Apple Silicon chipsets, like the iMac in which an Apple Silicon refresh is expected in first half of 2021.

This is according to a report from The China Times who claims that Apple is expected to debut a new iMac in the first half of 2021. This iMac is rumored to be powered by an A14T chipset, which is a variant of the A14 Bionic used by Apple’s current iPhones and iPads, and it is also apparently going to be “desktop class”.

The report claims that the new iMac will also feature Apple’s own self-developed GPU codenamed Lifuka, and together with the A14T, both will be produced by TSMC using the company’s 5nm process. Not much is known about the A14T right now, but as it is a variant of the A14, we expect that at the very least certain things will be kept similar, except that it might be slightly more powerful to facilitate desktop use.

Apple is rumored to hold another event this coming November where the company is said to be unveiling the first of its Apple Silicon computers. The rumors claim that the event will most likely cover laptops like the 12-inch MacBook that Apple could bring back from the dead, along with a new Apple Silicon-powered MacBook Air.
