It has been rumored that Apple is expected to not bundle accessories with its iPhone 12 like the EarPods and the power adapter. However, a tweet by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed that this will not only apply to the iPhone 12, but it is also expected to be applied to Apple’s already available iPhones.
This means that it will include the recently launched iPhone SE, which according to Gurman could see the packaging shrink considerably. Apple is also expected to start bundling USB-C to Lightning cables instead of USB-A to Lightning. This move has been somewhat criticized by many who feel that it is unfair for Apple to make such a decision while maintaining its prices.
In addition to removing the charging adapter from the newest iPhones today, look for Apple to do the same for the SE and other iPhones it’ll keep selling.

One could argue that in a way, this keeps with Apple’s ethos about trying to be a greener company. As it stands, we already own many power adapters so there’s really no need for yet another one. At the same time, we get the frustration felt by many because it means that for some, they will need to have to go out and buy a new power adapter, which will cost them more money than what they’re already paying for the iPhone.
Either way we’ll have to wait and see how Apple plans to justify this move, if at all.
