In the early days of Facebook games, Farmville was one of the biggest titles around and we’re sure that everyone who is using Facebook was probably spammed by Farmville requests from their friends and family from time to time. However, it seems that you can rest assured that you will no longer receive these spam notifications.
This is because in an announcement by Zynga, it appears that Farmville will be officially shutting down on the 31st of December. According to Zynga, this is due to the fact that Adobe will stop distributing or updating Flash Player, and Farmville will be affected by it, which is why they will be shutting the game down.
Note that this is only Farmville for the web that’s playable through Facebook. If you’re playing Farmville on your phone through the dedicated mobile app, then this does not affect you. Zynga notes that for those who are still playing the web version of the game, in-game purchases will continue to be available until the 17th of November, following which the payments system will be turned off.
Zynga adds, “Any remaining credits that you have during this period should be used before December 31st, 2020. We are also working on fun in-game activities to be announced soon that are designed to make your remaining time with FarmVille even more enjoyable.”
