Basically, Facebook included a message in their iOS app in which they attempted to inform users who use the app to make purchases made using Facebook’s new online events feature, that Apple would take a 30% cut from it. It appears that Apple was less than thrilled with the message and apparently “forced” Facebook to remove it.
Apple cited an App Store rule that prevents developers from showing what they claim is “irrelevant” information to users. According to Facebook, “Now more than ever, we should have the option to help people understand where money they intend for small businesses actually goes. Unfortunately Apple rejected our transparency notice around their 30% tax but we are still working to make that information available inside the app experience.”
Facebook has since removed the message, but has left a new message in which they are telling users that Facebook does not take a fee from these sales.
