The idea behind it is that it creates a streamlined approach for managing subscriptions, whilst keeping users on Apple’s platform. It looks like YouTube could be doing something similar as well, according to a report from The Information (paywall) where it seems that YouTube has been in discussion with several content owners about it for YouTube TV.
If the report is true, it will be interesting to see who will be part of the subscription list for YouTube TV. This is a good move for YouTube as not only would it help them increase the number of users on YouTube TV, but it could also allow them to gain a cut of the subscription revenue from the other services, similar to what Apple is doing.
There is no word on if and when this will happen, but if you’re an avid YouTube TV user, then this could be something to keep an eye out on in the future. Until then, take it with a grain of salt.
