However, the good news is that according to 9to5Google’s sources, they have heard that Google could soon be introducing the ability for users to upload their own songs to the cloud, which in turn would be accessible through YouTube Music. This would be similar to the cloud locker feature in Google Play Music, which for those unfamiliar will be shutting down in the near future.
As such, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Google is looking to bring some Google Play Music features over to YouTube Music as they attempt to transition customers from one service to another. Previous reports claimed that this transition could take place in 2019, but given that we’re already in 2020, it looks like Google might still need a bit more time.
The report claims that the music library/cloud locker feature is currently being tested internally so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long before the feature rolls out to all users. In the meantime, YouTube Music recently gained a lyrics section for those who like to sing along to their favorite songs.
