Apple’s Rumored Low-Cost iPhone Could Be Priced At $399

Apple products in general aren’t cheap, where supposedly more affordable models like the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 still aren’t exactly what many would consider “cheap”. However, Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 2 (also referred to as the iPhone 9) could truly fit into the budget category.

This is according to a report from Fast Company who claims that the upcoming rumored model could be priced at $399. While it is still slightly more expensive than many budget models out there, it is considered to be cheap by Apple’s standards. The report goes on to add that production of the handset is ramping up and could be scheduled for an official announcement in March.

For those who are unfamiliar, Apple has been rumored to be working on a successor to 2016’s iPhone SE which was also priced at $399. As for its specs and design, we have heard rumors that it could be based on the iPhone 8 which was launched a couple of years ago, meaning that some might consider it “old”.

This doesn’t mean that it will be a terrible device, but it is clearly aimed at customers who prioritize price over performance. Apple has had a lot of success with the iPhone XR and iPhone 11, which could have prompted the company to revisit the iPhone SE lineup. However, launching a phone with 2018 specs in 2020 might be a bit risky, but we’ll have to wait and see how well it does.
