The Galaxy Z Flip May Have Used A ‘Fake Glass’ As Tests Show

The Galaxy Z Flip has been in the limelight for all the good reasons. It is potentially better than Motorola’s RAZR and offers a good design – for many users.

However, the impressive verdict for the phone might be limited to the specs on paper.

In a recent durability test by JerryRigEverything, it looks like Samsung may have used a ‘fake glass’ in the Galaxy Z Flip.

The confusion arrives when the durability test shows that the screen gets scratches even in level 2 of the scratch test – which is only a sign of a “plastic” display.

But, on the other hand, Samsung mentioned that this was an “ultra-thin” foldable glass that made the Galaxy Z flip possible in the first place.

In a comment to this coverage on The Verge, Samsung responded that it features a protective layer on top of the screen.

Even if it does – we cannot be too sure why it failed the basic scratch test. Not just limited to that, you can also see the display get affected with fingernails.

As of now, we cannot be sure what Samsung tried to do here – but seems to fail in that aspect. If at all, it will be interesting to see what they do to issue replacements or fix the problem that makes a premium smartphone scratch-prone very easily.
