If you’re looking for a way to gather ideas or store some of your favorite findings on the internet, Pinterest is probably a good place to start. However, it seems that Facebook could be trying to take a run at Pinterest with something of their own, as the company has recently launched a new app called Hobbi.
The app is similar to Pinterest in the sense that it will let users document and gather ideas for their hobbies, inspirations, or ideas for upcoming projects. It will also allow users to organize it into themed collections consisting of photos and videos, with the added bonus of being able to track the status of the program over a period of time.
Interestingly enough, Hobbi is not linked to Facebook as there is no social networking component inside the app. As TechCrunch notes, this essentially makes the app feel more like a digital organizer of sorts rather than be an extension of Facebook or a social networking app.
That being said, it is unclear how widespread Hobbi’s availability is at the moment. As with Facebook’s experimental projects, availability is dependent on the region which means that there is a chance that it might not necessarily be available in your market, at least for now. Also, we’re not sure what Facebook’s long-term goals are for the app, but presumably it will be largely dependent on how well it does.
