Sometimes the number of downloads and similar stats hint at how popular an app (or service) is.
TikTok is already a quite popular app but it looks like it is apparently more popular than Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram in 2019 if we look at the download stats.
According to a report by Sensor Tower, India was responsible for nearly 45% of first-time users.
Overall, TikTok app ended the year 2019 as the second most popular app (in terms of downloads) behind WhatsApp.
The report also mentions that the Q4 of 2019 proved to be the best for TikTok app with nearly 220 million installs – which is an impressive number.
It is worth noting that TikTok was the most downloaded app on the App Store – but the #2 app on the Google Play Store behind WhatsApp.
Not just India but TikTok downloads on the U.S App Store grew by almost 83% compared to the previous year. In addition to the number of downloads, the revenue of TikTok app significantly increased as well – obviously.
While more services are trying to focus on smartphone users, it looks like we do have some dominant apps like TikTok in 2020 that would stay relevant longer than expected.
