However, these days we’re starting to see more SSDs come with larger storage volumes, but if you’re looking for even more storage, the folks at SanDisk could have something worth keeping an eye out for. At CES 2020, the company took the wraps off a prototype SSD that comes with a whopping 8TB of storage.
The company claims that this will make it the world’s “highest capacity, pocket-sized SuperSpeed USB 20Gbps portable SSD”. Details about the SSD’s performance and features is unclear, although we should note that this is a prototype which means that if and when SanDisk ever gets around to releasing it, the final version could be different from this prototype.
We’re not sure when the company plans on making it available to the public, but even considering how much cheaper SSDs are these days compared to back in the day, we imagine that an 8TB SSD that is also portable will definitely not come cheap.
