Just because of the US/China trade war, Huawei was banned from using Google’s apps/services on its smartphones.
It is almost more than a year now to that announcement. Even though things seem to be settling down. Huawei seems to have a different plan.
Huawei, in response to an Australian newspaper Der Standard said that they will not return to use Google’s services even if the trade ban lifts.
And, you might have already guessed it – the smartphone manufacturer plans to use its own App Gallery that utilizes Huawei Mobile Services.
Technically, the Huawei Mobile Services try to replicate the essential APIs of Google Play Services that will help them keep using the Android platform for their smartphones without relying on US politics.
It even plans to create a proxy-foundation in Europe to easily interact with other US companies for business.
Huawei has also invested a great deal of money to make this happen. For now, the number of apps available could be a problem – but if Huawei succeeds in bringing every major application to its App Gallery (including Google apps), it could be a great achievement for them.
Of course, it will not be an easy task – but it will be interesting to see what Huawei has in mind to independently power up its Android device with an app store of its own.
