Thanks to technological advances driven by laptops and mobiles, All-in-One PCs have become better designed and much more streamlined than just a few years ago (check our HP ENVY 32 AiO 2017 Review).
HP’s new ENVY 32 AiO (All-in-One) is a design statement as much as a computing one. On the surface, it looks like a very fancy multimedia monitor, and in some ways, that’s true.
The HDR600 display is “a first” in the PC market, says HP, and the screen indeed looks beautiful with vibrant colors and impressive contrast – that’s a level of display performance that Creative users will appreciate.
The color coverage is exemplary, with 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. That’s probably equivalent to 125% of the sRGB space, and the monitor ships already calibrated. The anti-reflection surface substantially reduces the glare coming from windows or spotlights.
Part of the design is to have as few cables as possible, and the Power cable should be the only one hidden in the back of your table as the mouse and keyboard are wireless. There’s even an integrated wireless charging function for your phone.
At the bottom, there’s a massive speaker, which is covered by an acoustic fiber that is reminiscent of what high-end voice assistants are covered with.
As usual, Bang & Olufsen has worked with HP to tune the sound system, which is surprisingly powerful for something that’s embedded in the display. HP says it is the “loudest” AiO computer, and sounds believable.
There are five speakers (2x tweeters, 2x medium, 1x bass) that form a powerful 2.1 channel system.
But there’s beauty on the inside too, and by “beauty,” I mean Computing Power. The 8-core Intel Core i7 (S) paired with 32GB of RAM can churn data at a rapid pace, and the computer can get up to 1TB of SSD storage.
“If that’s not enough, Thunderbolt 3 can connect additional ultrafast storage for archiving. The same connector can link to another 4K monitor, just in case you need more screen real estate. (there’s also an HDMI-out)
The Bluetooth keyboard is innovative, as it pairs to three devices at once and switches from one to the other at the touch of a button.
The same keyboard neatly holds phones and tablets (at the same time), some people use tablets for always-on email and social media. Some chat apps are only accessible by phone, but this keyboard works with them all.
Dubbed the Personal Creative Studio”, this is one of the most beautiful and functional AiO we’ve seen recently.
