iPhone Maker Foxconn Says Wuhan Virus Won’t Affect Its Production Schedule

With reports of the Wuhan virus making its rounds, this is no doubt going to be disruptive for the everyday lives of people, which unsurprisingly could also affect businesses. Recently, there have been reports suggesting that it could have the potential to affect the production schedule of devices like the iPhone, which are manufactured in China.

However, according to iPhone maker Foxconn, that apparently will not be the case. The company, which is based in Taiwan but has operations in China, claims that they will not be adjusting their manufacturing timelines nor will they be closing its factories as a result of the virus outbreak.

In a statement made by the company, “As a matter of policy and for reasons of commercial sensitivity, we do not comment on our specific production practices, but we can confirm that we have measures in place to ensure that we can continue to meet all global manufacturing obligations.”

That being said, there is still a chance the earlier reports could be true. This is because Apple sources from multiple companies and while Foxconn might not be adjusting their schedule, there is nothing to suggest that Apple’s other partners won’t. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see for ourselves, so don’t be surprised if supply for Apple’s newer products might be a bit tight at the start.
