It looks like Ferrari will not be alone in this because according to a report from Automotive News Europe, they spoke to Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark who also revealed that Bentley is also not expected to launch their fully-electric cars in 2025. According to Hallmark, “We have said 2025 is the earliest we can get a credible battery-electric Bentley [on the road]. Therefore, the next phase of our investment would be linked to that electrification.”
Hallmark spoke about what has been holding the company back from launching a fully-electric car, and said that it was about making sure the company is profitable and also having a “clear view” of when the right time would be. He also notes that that the company is considering if they will be producing their cars on the same line or have supplementary build areas.
According to Hallmark, “We could take one of the existing nameplates, and that could be the first electric car, but we wouldn’t take an existing car and try to fit batteries into it, because there’s a compromise from a range and efficiency point of view.”
