2020 iPhones Could See Improved Battery Life Thanks To Apple Watch Display Technology

One of the features of the new Apple Watch is its always-on display. This might seem like a drain on battery life, but Apple has managed to balance it out by using an LTPO display. The good news is that this year’s iPhones could also end up using similar technology, resulting in potentially better battery life.

This is based on a report from The Elec out of South Korea in which they claim that LG Display will be upgrading its production facilities at its E6 lines. The report claims that the E6 lines are apparently used to exclusively manufacture Apple components, which has resulted in them speculating that perhaps Apple could make the switch to using LTPO displays for its 2020 iPhones.

Apple has made pretty impressive improvements to the battery life of its 2019 iPhones, a surprise that not many had expected, but a welcome one all the same. Battery improvements are usually expected with every new generation of phone, so we wouldn’t be surprised if 2020’s iPhones also came with improved battery.

Whether or not it will be improved as a result of using an LTPO display remains to be seen, so it’s probably best to take this report with a grain of salt for now.
