As more companies are starting to ditch the headphone jack, there is a rise in the creation of wireless headphones. However, the problem with wireless headphones is that they run out of battery, something that most wired headphones do not suffer from. However, it seems JBL is looking to solve that problem.
The company has recently launched the JBL REFLECT Eternal on Indiegogo, which are a pair of wireless headphones that are solar powered. This means that in theory, these headphones will never run out of juice as long as they are exposed to solar energy, like the sun. According to the company, they claim that staying outside 1.5 hours in the sun will have enough battery to last 68 hours, or if you go to 2 hours in the sun, it should last you 168 hours.
If you’re always on the go or if you use your headphones for exercise like running or cycling, then racking up these numbers should not be an issue for you. Also, the lack of batteries means that in theory, they should be lighter (although we can’t speak for the solar components). The headphones will also offer wired charging in case you need it, where 15 minutes of charging time should give you 2 hours of additional playback.
The headphones are priced at $99 and are expected to begin shipping out to customers in October 2020, so if you’d like to get in on it, head on over to its Indiegogo page for the details.
