As some of you might be aware, IKEA recently launched a set of smart blinds. IKEA isn’t exactly new to the smart home game, and one of the selling points of its smart home products is support for Apple’s HomeKit platform. This was supposed to be the case with the smart blinds, but it looks like owners will have to wait until next year.
This is according to a tweet by IKEA UK in which when asked about when HomeKit support will be arriving, IKEA UK rep Dan replied by saying that it will only arrive early next year. No specific dates were mentioned which means that we’ll just have to wait and see when it will be released, but better late than never, we suppose.
IKEA has been having a bit of trouble with its smart blinds. The accessory was announced at the start of the year, but it was delayed a couple of times during the year where it was finally released in October, but even then it wasn’t available across all of its stores. So far, IKEA has been pretty aggressive with its smart home products.
Hi, the HomeKit functionality should be added to the blinds early next year.
Thanks,
Dan— IKEA UK Support (@IKEAUKSupport) December 7, 2019
