Google Maps has grown greatly over the years and with all the resources and technology at its disposal, it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that the company’s satellite images covers 36 million square miles and covers more than 98% of the entire population of the world, meaning that there is less than 2% of the world’s population that Google has yet to map out, which we imagine will eventually be covered.
This is according to a recent blog penned by Google in which they share additional details on how they go about mapping the world, whether it be through cars that drive around collecting photos and information for Street View, or providing high definition satellite images used as part of Google Earth.
That being said, while it is a very impressive feat for Google to have been able to capture so much details and images, it is a bit disconcerting to know that given how much Google already knows about us, there’s literally almost no place left to hide from them.
