That’s something that Google could be looking to introduce to Google Maps. According to a report from XDA Developers, they have discovered that Google could be working on a new feature in Google Maps called “Lighting”, where apparently what it will do is highlight to users streets that are brightly lit.
This means that in the event that you’d rather not walk down a dark street and want to find a potentially safer and more brightly lit street, you can use Google Maps to find it. We’re not sure how the feature will look like just yet, or if it could be limited to certain regions, but it does sound like a good idea.
However, according to XDA, based on the strings that they found, it will just highlight streets that are brightly lit in yellow. They are also suggesting that it could be piloted in India first before it makes its way to other parts of the world, but we suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.
