The infotainment and dashboard units of our cars have evolved over the years. Just like with our smartphones, the displays on these units are getting bigger, just look at what Tesla is offering its customers. However, it seems that the folks at Cadillac plan on taking the cake as they have announced that the 2021 Cadillac Escalade will feature a 38-inch curved OLED display.
In a teaser video shared on Twitter, the company showed off an interior design where the display basically stretches from one end to the other. It seems to encompass both the dashboard and the infotainment system, with Cadillac claiming that the pixel density of the display will apparently be twice of that of a 4K television. Basically, it will be sharp and very vivid, or at least that’s the hope.
The company did not reveal any additional details, but they are expected to unveil the car in full come 4th of February. Also, what’s interesting about the car and what was not mentioned by the company is the possibility of it being an autonomous vehicle. This was noted by Autoblog who noticed a green light stretching across the steering wheel, hinting that there could be at the very least some kind of semi-autonomous feature.
Straight lines are so last year. Introducing the first curved OLED in the industry, with over 38” diagonal of total display on the 2021 #Cadillac #Escalade. First look February 2020, available late 2020. pic.twitter.com/AoW4SvXhYA

2021 would still be a bit early for self-driving cars to be legalized for the masses, so semi-autonomous sounds about right. In any case, we should have more details next year so check back with us then for updates.
