Spotify Testing Real-Time Lyrics Synced To Your Music

One of the features of Apple Music is that it comes with real-time music syncing. What this means is that as the song progresses, the lyrics will scroll throughout the song and highlights the part that is being sung. This is useful if you’re looking to sing along to the song that is currently playing.

It looks like Spotify could soon be getting a similar feature, according to a report from TechCrunch where Spotify has confirmed that they will be testing the feature out. So far, the tests are being conducted in a handful of markets so if you don’t see it yet, don’t worry as we imagine that it will eventually make its way to you.

Interestingly enough, this is not Spotify’s first attempt at displaying lyrics with its songs. It had previously introduced a similar feature on the desktop, but now it looks like it will be coming to mobile, thanks to its partnership with Musixmatch. For those unfamiliar, Musixmatch is a lyrics app/service that can display an overlay of text over whatever you are playing.

Musixmatch is available as a paid subscription or you can use it for free with ads, but with it being tested with Spotify, it looks like Spotify users won’t need to download a separate app in the future. No word on when it will be rolled out fully, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled.
