While Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are very different platforms from each other, over the years, we’ve seen how Facebook has attempted to try and introduce similar features to each of its products. For example, Stories is one of those features where we’ve seen it applied across all three apps.
Now it looks like Facebook could be interested in borrowing a feature from Instagram in the from of “Popular Photos”. In case you haven’t noticed, Facebook recently conducted a test where if you tap on a photo from your News Feed, you might have noticed that at the bottom, there are more photos which the social network has deemed as popular.
We’re not sure how Facebook determines which photos to display here, but basically you would be able to keep scrolling and looking at photos. Facebook has since confirmed to TechCrunch that they were indeed testing out the feature and that the test has since been concluded. The company also notes that they are now iterating on the product and plan to do more updated tests in the future, but stopped short of actually confirming if the feature would be rolled out in full in th future.
We should point out that Facebook does conduct tests every now and then for new features, so it’s hard to say which ones might make the final cut.
