In a report from Bloomberg, it has been revealed that Apple could be planning on launching a new iPad Pro in 2020 where it is expected to adopt a dual camera design that could also come with a 3D sensor that could help users create “reconstructions of rooms, objects and people”. It is said that this sensor has been in development at Apple for the past few years and is apparently a more advanced version of Face ID.
Exactly how it will work or how it will be used remains to be seen, but it is expected to make its debut on the iPad Pro first before eventually finding its way onto the iPhone. Like we said, Apple has been dabbling in AR tech for a while now and has made several acquisitions in the past that would have bolstered their efforts, so come 2020, we could get an inkling of what the company could be working towards.
Of course, Apple would not be alone in trying to create AR wearables or incorporate the tech into mobile devices, but it will be interesting to see how they plan to implement it and how it will differ from the competition.
