Game streaming is set to become a big deal and as such, more companies are getting on board with it. This is versus back in the day where not many companies were interested in the technology, but now it looks like we can look forward to services from the likes of Microsoft’s xCloud and Google Stadia.
With the rise in competition, it seems that Sony has decided that maybe it might be a good time to try and be more competitive, and as such, the company has announced that they will be dropping the prices of its PlayStation Now subscription service by half. This means that instead of customers paying $19.99 a month, they will only need to pay $9.99.
These changes will be reflected across the different subscription offers of the service. The quarterly subscription has also been similar reduced by half, where instead of $44.99 every quarter, customers will only need to pay $24.99. The same will be applied to the yearly subscription where it has been reduced from $99.99 a year to $59.99. In addition to the price changes, Sony has also announced that they will be adding new games to the service.
This includes the latest God of War title, Grand Theft Auto V, inFAMOUS Second Son, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Sony’s PlayStation Now service has been around for a while now with little competition, hence the prices, but with more entrants stepping into the market, Sony definitely needs to maintain its competitive edge. Current customers will be able to enjoy these new prices upon their next billing cycle.
