When Samsung announced that they would be delaying the launch of their Galaxy Fold while they looked into improving on its build quality and overall integrity, it felt like this gave Huawei a chance to beat Samsung to the punch. However, it wasn’t too long after that Huawei also announced that they too would be delaying the launch for similar testing.
The company has yet to officially announce when the phone will be available again, but if a report from cnBeta is to be believed, the good news is that we might not have to wait much longer. This is because according to the report, Huawei is expected to launch the Mate X this month, although it does note that it might be launched in limited quantities that would be only available in China, at least at the start.
Apparently this is done in the event that should there be any issues, it won’t affect too many customers. There is no word on whether or not the phone will find its way stateside, although given the current situation with the US and China, it could prove to be rather tricky. Huawei’s Mate X is also considerably more expensive than the Galaxy Fold, meaning that Huawei definitely needs to get this right.
