Dubbed the O.MG Cable, its creator MG has revealed that the cable will now be produced in mass and will be available for purchase. The researcher had previously sold some early production units of the cable at the Def Con hacking conference for about $200 each, but we’re not sure now that it is being produced in larger quantities, how much it will cost.
Speaking to Motherboard, MG said, “I’m just being super transparent about the process. [Mostly] everyone who manufactures something is going to keep it quiet up until release day when they unveil the entire thing and it’s ready for sale or they at least have a sale date.” While this cable sounds problematic, the good news is that it needs to be plugged into a device in order for it to work.
After months of work, I am now holding the very first fully manufactured #OMGCable. I can’t wait to get these up on https://t.co/mVYIMD3v7g
Now time for a fully destructive teardown to make sure they meet all my requirements for a fully field-ready piece of attack hardware. pic.twitter.com/lMVBv5RRjw

This means that if you mostly buy official accessories from Apple directly, then you should be safe. If anything, this seems to make the argument for buying original and official accessories and products.
