When Google announced the original Pixel Buds, it felt like the company wasn’t quite ready to fully embrace true wireless earbuds. This is because if you recall, the OG Pixel Buds came with a cable that connected both earbuds together. However, it seems that Google has finally decided to cut the cord.
With the new Pixel Buds, Google has given it a slight design where they have not only made it truly wireless, but they have also added some design features that will make it a more secure fit in your ear. There are also new features like Adaptive Sound, which Google claims will allow the earbuds to dynamically adjust the volume depending on your environment so that users won’t need to keep doing it themselves.
Google has also built in two microphones in each earbud, where one will be focusing on the sound of your voice, while the other will pick up sounds around you to try and suppress them. Google has included what they’re calling a voice accelerometer which can detect speech through vibrations in your jawbone, so that even in windy conditions, it will still be able to pick up your voice.
The new Pixel Buds has touch controls for media playback, and boasts 5 hours of listening time on a single charge, and with the wireless charging case, will give the earbuds up to 24 hours of listening time in total. Google did not mention when exactly the new Pixel Buds will be launched, except to say that it will be next year, but it is expected to be priced at $179.
