Today, Google finally revealed the Pixel 4 and the Pixel 4 XL to the world. As expected, the early leaks were almost true with the possible design and specifications of the smartphone, that is what we witnessed at the launch.
The Pixel 4 comes packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 coupled with 6 Gigs of RAM. It sports a 5.7-inch FHD 90 Hz display with the old-school style top chin (no notch). To power it up, it slides in a 2800 mAh battery with 18 W fast charging and wireless charging support.
On the other hand, the Pixel 4 XL packs in a bigger 3700 mAh battery. In contrast to the Pixel 4, it sports a 6.3-inch QHD 90 Hz display.
The rest of the specifications remain the same for both variants.
The base storage is 64 GB and extends to 128 GB for the high-end model of each variant (Pixel 4 / Pixel 4 XL).
Unlike its predecessor Pixel 3, there are two cameras which include a new telephoto lens and the main camera. Unfortunately, no ultrawide lens.
For both Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 Xl, you will find a 12.2 MP (f/1.4 aperture) main camera and a 16 MP (f/2.4 aperture) telephoto lens with Optical Image Stabilization and Electronic Image Stabilization on the rear. And, on the front, there’s an 8 MP (f/2.0 aperture) camera with a 90-degree field of view.
The Super-res Zoom feature combines optical and digital zoom to take impressive pictures using the dual-camera setup on the back of the phone.
The key highlight of the smartphone is the ability to sense the motion with a radar sensor. It helps in making the face unlock process faster by getting the camera ready when you pick up the phone.
Also, it makes certain gesture commands possible (just wave your hand to dismiss the alarm and so on.)
The Google Pixel smartphones are up for pre-orders at $799 (Pixel 4) and $899 (for Pixel 4 XL), and the phones will ship on October 24, globally.
You can expect the availability of Pixel through all the major U.S. carriers including AT&T, C Spire, Cellcom, Google Fi, Spectrum Mobile (Charter), Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Verizon, Visible and Xfinity Mobile (Comcast).
Pixel 4 comes in three colors, including Clearly White, Just Black, and a limited edition – ‘Oh So Orange’. For more information, you can visit the Google Store page.
It is also interesting to note that the Pixel 4 will not be available in India. The frequency band isn’t available for commercial usage – so even though India happens to be the second-largest smartphone market, Pixel 4 won’t be available there.
