Fossil Smartwatches Can Now Make Calls With The iPhone

Unlike the Apple Watch that requires an iPhone for it to work, Google’s Wear OS smartwatches actually play nice with the iPhone, at least to a certain degree. One of the features that it seems to be lacking is the ability to make calls on the iPhone through the smartwatch, even if the iPhone is connected and paired with it.

However, for Wear OS users who use an iPhone, you might be pleased to learn that in the latest update to Fossil’s Gen 5 smartwatches, it will now allow Wear OS users to make iPhone calls through their smartwatch. However, we should note that this update only applies to the Gen 5 smartwatches, so if you own an older Fossil smartwatch, then you might be out of luck.

We’re not sure if there are plans to update older Fossil watches with similar features, or if there could be hardware limitations which is why for now, it is only available for the Gen 5 smartwatch. Either way, it’s still pretty good news for Fossil owners. In addition to being able to take and make calls, the update is also said to improve calls on Android devices, and also fixes an annoying “ticking” issue, so it could be worth updating for those changes as well.

The update is in progress of being rolled out, so if you don’t see it yet, not to worry as it should eventually find its way to you.
